Thomas Legal Group

ThomasLegal.jpgFollowing a successful career as a property solicitor in London and Cheltenham, Simon Thomas started his own practice in Gloucestershire in 2007.

He has grown the business to the point where it now employs over 40 staff and in 2010, the group admitted 2 new equity partners who brought with them significant business from the previous firm the 2 new partners had left.

Simon’s personal specialism is in the high to ultra-high end of the Central London property market which involves bespoke transactions for high-net-worth clients including celebrities and senior heads of industry.  He attributes the success of his business to 3 core principles:  speed, innovation and excellence.

Simon was originally introduced to Davies Mayers Barnett by his late father, for whom we acted for many years whilst he owned and ran a highly successful engineering business.   In the early days, we took care of all Simon’s day to day compliance and accounting matters for the business including the statutory accounts, VAT, PAYE and tax returns for the Directors.   As the business grew, an in-house accountant was appointed and Davies Mayers Barnett continue to carry out compliance work for the business, including reporting to The Law Society on client money audits and providing tax advice for both the business and for Simon and his fellow partners in their personal capacity.

The addition of new equity partners into the business required complex negotiations following exit from their previous firm, the resultant goodwill purchase and the sensitive information involved.  Simon commented:  “Davies Mayers Barnett has been a huge help to the business particularly in relation to our expansion over the past 3 or 4 years and dealing with the intricate detail.   Nick has personally dealt with most of the matters himself and it is reassuring to know that he and his colleagues are always available to help us when we need advice.”
