Richard Lupson-Darnell
Senior Manager
Richard qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1991 and over the course of his career, which has included Senior Management roles with PwC in St Albans and Baker Tilly, he has gained considerable experience advising small and medium sized businesses and their owners. He will focus on the development of the firm’s tax advisory service as well as providing practical tax advice to clients on all aspects of personal and company matters.
Richard has during his career in tax had a period running his own tax consultancy business during which time he developed a network of smaller accountants providing tax planning advice both directly to their clients and as their retained tax specialist. In doing so the accountants involved were able to offer a more rounded service which aided client retention. This is a service that Davies Mayers Barnett will continue to provide nationwide.

When not at work Richard and his family are active members of the church. As a consequence of his involvement over the years he has developed a natural affinity with the charity sector and has written and lectured in this area. As such he will be an invaluable addition to the firm’s growing Charity and Not-for-Profit team.
Before qualifying, Richard represented Essex at Table Tennis, being County men’s singles champion, and was highly ranked nationally. Currently he enjoys cycling and walking with his family, and playing his guitar badly.
